YUNGBLUD has taken to Instagram and TikTok to encourage fans to write their own verse to “Parents,” a popular song off his 2019 album, the underrated youth, due to the song’s resurgence on Tiktok.
On Instagram, YUNGBLUD told fans to write a verse about something that was bothering them, something that made them angry or sad.
He invited fans to interact with him, writing: “go duet me , freestyle something your fookin mad about, talk about somethin you’re sad about !!! we could all kiss and eliminate the idea of gender in a toxic world.”
He also promised to duet his favorite verses and said “I’m watching!”
His invitation became a full on trend on Tiktok, with tons of users posting their take on the song. At current count, the audio for “Parents” including duets has been used in more than 126,000 Tiktok videos.
YUNGBLUD posted a compilation video on Instagram, showcasing some of the duets and applauding them.
“the reaction has been insane!!! to see thousands of u all bein so creative and powerful is fookin incredible!” he said, “every single one of your words are givin me goosebumps man! it’s so sick to feel so connected to you all! keep going, get out what you need to get out , it’s ain’t about anything other than being loud, let them know what you have to say and keep being yourself. tag yer mates don’t be nervous and most of all support each other ! go on do one rn im still watchin!”
