Woman Crush Wednesday: JAX

Jaclyn Cole Miskanic, known professionally as JAX auditioned for the 14th season of American Idol, finishing at third place. While on the show, JAX became a fan favorite, connecting to her audience and showing America that she isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s the sassy blonde girl who puts on a beautiful display of what authenticity looks like.

After months on the show and fans voting for her relentlessly, JAX was eliminated while showing the judges and America her soulful voice, emoting about love, life, loss and pain with a maturity well beyond her 18 years. She’s been one of the best and most consistent contestants on the show, and the way she is going after he dreams post-show makes it evident. Right after the show, JAX released her pop-driven song “La La Land” speaking about the realities of the American Idol competition and the struggles she faces throughout.

Since American Idol, JAX has been fighting a battle that she didn’t think she would but of course, it’s only made her stronger than ever. The majority of 2016, the singer spent her time battling Thyroid cancer. In the dark days leading up to her diagnosis, the Idol alum “waking up in a very dark place every day” she says. After the diagnosis, the doctor had found 18 tumors on her thyroid and 12 of them tested positive for cancer. Her plans of kicking off her career right after the show had been put to a sudden stop but that didn’t stop JAX from dreaming.

Since her diagnosis, the star had her thyroid taken out and has undergone radiation treatment. She ran the 2016 TCS NYC marathon back in November to help raise funds for Tuesday’s Children, an organization that supports youth and families affected by terrorism or traumatic loss.

While also running to change lives, the Idol contestant is ready and waiting to launch her career in full force. Her debut EP entitled Funny is set to release this Friday (Jan. 27) and consists of powerful and empowering tracks that will lift anyone who listens. The EP includes her fight song “Stars” and sassy up-tempo track “Kicking and Screaming”. Watch out world! JAX is ready to spread her wings and soar.
