Country newcomer Lexi Lauren has been singing and songwriting ever since she could remember. She’s country’s newest sweetheart who has every intention of letting her audiences come into her world via music. The 14-year old is personable, and at the age of 14, she has an incredible knack for penning a good song. Not to mention, she already has a huge following on the popular app Musica.ly, gaining more than 150k followers in less than 75 days.
This talent proves to be obvious in her new single “Don’t Text,” a song co-written by Lauren herself and mixed by Dave Clauss (Maren Morris, Keith Urban). “Don’t Text” is about how, in these days, we focus on our phones way too much,” Lauren tells us about the track. “Texting has become more common than just calling someone up on the phone, and it’s so important to actually hear someone’s voice.”
Today, May 12, Lauren is releasing the music video for “Don’t Text” and it’s everything you would imagine it to be from the country newcomer. The song matches the video, and according to Lauren, it’s exactly what she was hoping for. “The video has the same concept and meaning as the song does,” says Lauren. “It’s about how, no matter how busy you may be, it’s important to call someone and hear their voice, rather than reading their messages. I’m really excited about the song in general. I think it matches everything I was going for.”
The video is a great step forward in Lauren’s career. With the music video out, it’s Lauren’s time to shine. She’s about to turn heads and make her mark in the country music world, and it all starts with “Don’t Text”. Watch the premiere of the music video below.
“Don’t Text” will be featured on Lexi Lauren’s debut EP that is set to release late this year.
