Today we announce the exciting EP release of indie artist R.I.Pablo. Originally from the UK, R.I.Pablo releases his debut five-track EP Bug Lyf, a sparkling indie-pop project that evokes a warm and dreamy sensation through his sweet, sun-drenched melodies, unique self-production and enchanting lyricism. The self-proclaimed psychedelic sad boy and world renowned songwriter is largely inspired by nature, and through his music, takes listeners on a sonic journey that explodes with neon psychedelia and eclectic vibrancy.
Bug Lyf was written during the peak of the global pandemic. Speaking on the EP’s focus track “Buggin Out,” R.I.Pablo explains:
“I was thinking about how most animals would be oblivious to the pandemic. It really helped me escape the four walls of my bedroom. I always felt like a weird bug growing up, so I used my imagination to escape that reality. The thing about creating your own little world is that however great it is, you’re the only person living in it. It can get quite lonely there, hence why I’m inviting people to live in it with me.”
Though R.I.Pablo is no stranger to the world of pop, this EP gives listeners the first full glimpse into his solo creative ability. As a member of The Six, a writing group out of Manchester, he possesses an impressive writing background. His big break came this past year from co-writing with Bebe Rexha on her most recent album Better Mistakes. Further explaining the genesis of Bug Lyf, he says“Writing for other artists, I felt like I had only scratched the surface of my creative capacity. I knew I had so much more to give. I wanted to create something completely unique and explore where I hadn’t been yet.”
The EP also contains his two singles “Bloom” and “Sunday Morning”. These first releases as a solo artist generated impressive support from media tastemakers, and were subsequently featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds: Pop, Bloom, Chilled Pop Hits, Summer Breakouts and Apple Music’s Suave.
In his first solo project, R.I.Pablo displays a unique ability to tell a tale through the eyes of a bug in nature. The funky 808s and swirling synths of his unique sound craft a vivid picture for listeners and make him a distinctive standout in the world of emerging solo artists.
