The summer is not over yet! Tyler Shaw is bringing in the heat with his new album!
The singer-songwriter dropped his highly-anticipated self-titled album today and it is a fun and lively project that everyone will enjoy. The 11-track project has everything from pop, rock, to even a little bit of EDM!
The album begins a series of fun, dance-pop songs such as “Remember,” “I See You” and “North Star,” which is one of his favorites off the album. We got the chance to talk with Shaw in April and he talks about the meaning behind the song:
“The song is ultimately about perspective, finding something that excites you and helps make you better. I would also describe it as a summarized timeline of a relationship, where you’re going through the motions of life and then come across someone or something that stops you in your tracks grabs you by surprise and becomes a new direction or force in your own story. The North Star is metaphorically an anchor that guides you in the right direction.”

Then, Shaw changes pace with rock songs like “Love Me Again,” “Be Like You,” and “Say Nothing.” Let’s not forget about his romantic love ballad, “When You’re Home.” He’s truly in his element with these songs and you can tell he put his heart and soul into them.
The entire project is decorated with impressive production from start to finish. He worked with renowned producers such as Alex Beitzke (James Arthur), Jon Levine (Dua Lipa, Alessia Cara), and more.
We see the Canadian artist get real and authentic throughout this album. In a press release, Shaw talks about what the project meant to him:
“In some ways, I’m treating this like my debut album,” Tyler Shaw says of the endeavor. “I feel it’s time to introduce myself to the rest of the world…Hands down, these are the best songs I have ever written. They are the ones that took the most self-reflection and are the absolute best representation of me and my growth as a songwriter.”
Tyler Shaw has already made a name for himself, achieving multiple platinum hits as a singer-songwriter. So we know that whatever he produces is magic. But there is something else that he is passionate and proud of: his identity and culture.
You may have noticed the Chinese characters, which spell out his name, everywhere. Shaw is half Chinese and half Polish and Ukrainian. He’s been a very vocal and active force in the mission to #StopAsianHate, consistently speaking out on issues on his social media and sharing music from AAPI artists.
The world will finally know the talent that is Tyler Shaw. It’s a perfect representation of who he is as a singer-songwriter, showing off his unique vocals and powerful lyricism. Check your radars, people. He’s a star in the making.
