Here I was thinking that Travis Scott had achieved the epitome of success with his McDonald’s meal, but it seems like the rapper from Houston can do no wrong when it comes to his music. Scott’s latest single, “Franchise,” featuring Young Thug and M.I.A. debuted as the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
For those who do not understand the magnitude of this feat, La Flame broke the record to become the fastest artist to record three No. 1 debuts in the chart’s history, according to Chart Data.

“Franchise,” which released on Sept. 25, marks Scott’s third No. 1 debut in less than a year, following “Highest in the Room” which released in October 2019, and “The Scotts” with Kid Cudi, which released in May of this year.
In total, the latest release makes it four top-of-the-chart debuts for Scott, with the first one being the evergreen “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake in 2018.
“Franchise” gave Young Thug his second No. 1 song on the Hot 100 chart, with the first one being Camila Cabello’s “Havana.” M.I.A. made her first appearance on the top of the chart, with her previous best being No. 4 for “Paper Planes” in 2008.
The Hot 100 chart blends all-genre U.S. streaming, radio airplay and sales data. “Franchise,” released on Cactus Jack/Epic Records, is the 1,110th No. 1 in the Hot 100’s 62-year history and opened with 19.4 million streams in the United States and 98,000 sales — 58,000 in cassettes and CDs and 40,000 digital downloads — according to Nielsen Music and Billboard.
Scott surpassed Ariana Grande to become the fastest artist to accumulate three No. 1 debuts. Grande accomplished the feat in a year and four months with her songs “7 Rings,” “Stuck With U” and “Rain On Me.”
Travis Scott became only the fifth artist to have at least three No. 1 debuts, joining Grande — the record holder with four — and Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey and Drake, all with three each.
