The midsummer month of July brought us fresh new music and wonderfully reimagined releases. While many artists released amazing music, these are the five albums that stood out among them all.
-
Ryan Beatty – Boy in Jeans
If his name sounds familiar, it’s because Ryan Beatty has been around for quite some time. You might remember him as a young boy singing covers on YouTube. He’s all grown up now. Finally releasing his debut album, Boy in Jeans, Ryan eloquently expresses himself as a mature queer man. This album feels like liberation.
-
Jaden Smith – SYRE The Electric Album
The Electric Album takes five songs off the original SYRE album and beautifully creates something new. It’s a whole other wave that you ride when listening to each song. Jaden Smith already creates insanely unique work and this is no exception.
-
The Internet – Hive Mind
It seems like R&B collective The Internet has found their groove. With their fourth studio album release, Hive Mind, The Internet showcases each member’s strengths in the best way possible. Syd’s voice is smooth and entrancing. Your body will move to these tunes.
-
YUNGBLUD – 21st Century Liability
Here is one of the most exciting new artists out right now. Yungblud floats in genre fluidity. What resonates most is his natural ability to be incredibly vocal on his strong political views within songs. Yungblud is quickly becoming a rockstar. Keep him on your radar because he’s definitely on ours.
-
Wet – Still Run
Duo Kelly Zutrau and Joe Valle, known artistically as Wet, wrap up our top albums of July. Still Run is the pair’s sophomore album. The high tempo in “You’re Not Wrong” mixes well with the vaguely detailed lyrics. This indie album was made for breakups and long drives.
