Picture yourself inside a hazy indie dream. The sun is gold, and the flowers kiss shades of red and pink. As you wander through this blissful scene, you begin to discover that in this world, there is only one anthem, and that is Tomemitsu’s “Same Mistakes.”
Released on March 19th, “Same Mistakes” is an omen to understanding and forgiveness. Capturing the essence of flying free from a loved one, “Same Mistakes” speaks to the pit we sometimes fall into when we become blind to the thoughts and feelings of our lovers.
Coming in as a follow-up to the LA-based singer’s 2017 album In Dreams, “Same Mistakes” is chalked full of hazy guitar lines, sunlit melodies, and a breezy tempo. In every second, the listener is pulled in and set on a wavy adventure through the tunes bolstering flutes, latent synths, and flourishing rhythmic guitar. “Same Mistakes” creates a further narrative, that was not given in Tomemitsu’s prior single “Wish Erase.” Yet, in “Same Mistakes” the warm melodies and sweet flow come together to create a message of bliss and freedom allowing Tomemitsu to find success in his single.
Featuring Chicago musician V.V. Lightbody, the paring allows for a greater state of vulnerability. Harmonizing with Tomemitsu, Lightbody helps to add another element to “Same Mistakes”, gifting a light and flowy feel.
“Same Mistakes” is set to appear on Tomemitsu’s upcoming album, Sun, releasing April 9th.
