The UK’s newest alternative-pop group, Oh Wonder, released their self-titled album in September of 2015, but it was far from your typical record launch.
Flashback to September of 2014. Working out of a home-studio in London, Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West decided to write, produce and release an original song every month for a year, leading up to their debut album’s full release.
Their unconventional approach grabbed the attention of the public, leaving listeners intrigued and waiting for more.
The highly-anticipated final product featured each of the monthly releases and included two new tracks. With 15 songs, the album reached number 26 on the Official UK Charts.
Not only was Oh Wonder’s creative process unprecedented, so was the beginning of their touring career. The duo sold out shows in London, Paris, Los Angeles and New York only a week after the full album went public.
The curtains just closed on their first North American tour, but Oh Wonder will be returning for a second installment this May. You can also catch a live performance of the duo this summer at Halsey’s Badlands Tour or music festivals Bonnaroo and Firefly.
