The Regrettes have continued to find new ways to connect with their young following, even after their tour has ended.
With social media use at an all-time high, the ability to connect with others at the touch of a button is almost overwhelming. It helps that the band themselves are young, but they’re connecting in ways most artists aren’t right now. Apart from being very active across nearly all social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube shorts), recently the band announced that they were doing a weekly live podcast on the app amp. Their first episode was on August 16th, they played some of their current favorite songs and told stories as if you were just old friends catching up.
Their dynamic as a band is entertaining to see through various videos online. They post nearly everyday on Instagram, keeping us up to date on their tour’s progress. They also really utilize Instagram stories and keep things casual with their audience. This casual use of social media goes after the Gen-Z use of socials. Pivoting from something more curated to something that’s more authentic and realistic, which makes it easier to connect with and relate to. The Regrettes have done a great job promoting their tour while on tour, urging fans to get tickets to their shows while highlighting their favorite moments on tour.
Originally from Los Angeles, the band is led by Lydia Night (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards) and is also currently composed of Genessa Gariano (lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Brooke Dickson (bass, keyboards, backing vocals), and Drew Thomsen (drums, backing vocals). The band was formed in 2015, two years later they released their first album, Feel Your Feelings Fool!. After opening for Twenty-One Pilots for a month in 2018, their second album, How Do You Love?, was released (in 2019). In 2022, they released their third album, Further Joy.
The Regrettes just recently wrapped up their tour, which was originally scheduled to end in late May, but due to setbacks related to COVID-19 they had to reschedule a portion of their tour. Their shows fill you with energy and leave you wanting more. The energy they bring to their shows is contagious. Their use of social media gets you giddy for their show, anxiously awaiting when they’ll get to your city.
We admire their activity on social media and their efforts in trying to connect with fans, which can be difficult. Although there are lots of ways to connect, what The Regrettes are doing seems genuine, and it seems like they want their fans to know more about them on a seemingly personal level. We love being able to see the behind the scenes of their tour and see more of their personality through little videos on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. With the tour being over we’re excited to see what new ways The Regrettes will come up with to connect with their following.
