The Crystal Casino Band, an indie rock quartet that hails from Washington DC and is best known for their single “Waste My Time,” released their new album Maryland House on January 27. The album has 13 tracks and is the band’s sixth, following their 2021 album Not About You.
The album is unique in the band’s catalogue so far in that it features all four members on lead vocals, as well as their normal instruments, which include trumpet, ukulele, mandolin and harmonica. Upon the album’s release, the band stated “This is by far our most collaborative album to date and working on these songs for the past two years together has been beyond rewarding. We hope you hear the love and effort we put into the record and that we can see you at our headlining show at the 9:30 Club. Remember, TCCB LOVES YA.”
The album contains a number of previously-released singles, including “City That Sleeps,” “Jamie,” “Boys and Girls,” “Until the Sun Comes Up,” “Antlers” and “Twenty-Something Socialist”. The latter has proven to be the most popular from this album cycle so far, featuring politically-charged lyrics discussing the experiences of the newly mature American left. “Jamie,” meanwhile, lambasts non-committal friends, while “City That Sleeps” expresses the band’s frustrations with DC’s short-term residents and their effect on the local dating scene. The full tracklist is as follows:
1. Curfew
2. Twenty-something socialist
3. Jamie
4. Sorry Not Worried
5. Boys & Girls
6. Until The Sun Comes Up
7. Talking Stage ft Divine Sweater
8. City That Sleeps
9. Wealth and Riches
10. Half Staff
11. Antlers
12. Quarter Life
13. Getting Closer
While a full tour has yet to be announced, the band has announced a few initial dates to promote the album, including in Chicago, Columbus, OH, and the band’s native DC. The band’s full, constantly-updated tour schedule can be found here.
We’re excited to see what the band does next!
