Saturday Night, Feb 4 was a big night for Swifties all across the globe. Taylor Swift took the stage for the first time in 2017 in Houston, Texas at Club Nomadic. This event was hosted by AT&T and DIRECTV, which Swift has partnered with. This partnership includes her very own channel on DIRECTV entitled Taylor Swift Now, and according to DIRECTV, this is just the beginning of their partnership together.
Perhaps Super Saturday Night was just the kick off for many other surprises to come. Before the big showdown, fans who had lined up for the event got invited into a pre-party, which appeared to be enchanting and magical all at once. The pre-party event included several Swift related things such as, a glam squad, a design your own t-shirt station, Swift inspired food menus and much more. If that isn’t a celebration leading up to a huge event, we don’t know what is.
Prior to Swift’s performance, actress Ruby Rose amped up the speakers and hit the turntables for a DJ performance to hype up the crowd. Not to mention, the club was also filled with actresses, celebrities, NFL athletes and invited guests. If the crowd wasn’t amped up before, they were sure to be then.
After the much anticipated wait, Swift finally took the stage, opening the show with her hit single “New Romantics”. The powerhouse also sang hits “22”, “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Blank Space”. But, the show wasn’t just filled with hits that fans have heard her sing live several times before. She surprised the crowd by singing an acoustic version of “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” and the Little Big Town smash hit that she wrote “Better Man”.

Those who attended the show were especially lucky to see this once in a lifetime performance since Swift announced that she will not be going on tour this year. “I want to be really honest with you. As far as I know I’m doing one show in 2017 and as far as I know, this is that one show. By coming to this show tonight you are officially attending 100% of this years tour date.”
Well, that’s unfortunate. But, Swifites can’t lose hope. Just because she isn’t touring doesn’t mean an album won’t be dropped. We can only hope and pray she releases new music soon, right? Here’s to praying for new Taylor songs and lucky that fans far and wide got to enjoy this experience when it was in Houston or via the internet.
