Though The Strokes have endured some rough patches with their record labels and fellow band members through the past few years, that’s not stopping them any time soon.
On Thursday, May 26th, lead singer Julian Casablancas hosted the first installment of his new radio show “Culture Void” on Sirius XM, which initially included some rock and classical music but eventually turned into the debut of the new Strokes song, “Oblivius”. This was accompanied by an announcement that they will be releasing a new EP called Future Present Past on Friday, June 3rd, just in time for their performance at Governor’s Ball music festival in New York (perhaps a bit of a hometown salute).
The EP includes “Oblivius” as well as two new songs, “Drag Queen” and “Threat of Joy”, and a remix of “Oblivius” by none other than the band’s own Fabrizio Moretti. This is their first release since their album Comedown Machine in 2013.
The EP is currently available to stream in full on Spotify and will be available for purchase next week.
