One week removed from the release of his first full-length album If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is, Sven Gamsky AKA Still Woozy is still reeling with excitement. So are the fans who have backed him since his debut “Vacation” dropped in 2017.
This release came with a different feeling in the air. After sharing popular singles, his EP Lately and a trademark of popping out song after song, Still Woozy presented himself with a new challenge: writing and recording a whole record.
“It just takes a long time,” he laughed. “I’m such a perfectionist over all the little details. I made so many ‘little’ edits. The whole time I’m worried I’m going to drive everyone on my team away because I’m so intense about all these little things.”
That careful attention helped to string the whole record together and could even help his future releases.
“It’s good that I released my first album,” he said. “Now I can learn to relax more for the upcoming things. Ha, I just need to chill out.”
You would not guess those were his feelings based on the way he speaks which is both laid back yet confident. In fact relaxing may even be a good way to describe If This Isn’t Nice.
On the record’s third track, “That’s Life,” Still Woozy introduces a slow but captivating hook of instrumentation and begins singing only two seconds later. His vocals are soothing immediately, making the tune a sweet treat. When drums are introduced, it gets catchy but still keeps that good loose feeling that he is known for. I wanna go back / But that’s life / Why would it change now? he sings.
So what is the secret to writing a song filled with memorable instrumentals and solid, relatable lyrics that stick? More often than not, you will find both in his tracks.
“I always write the melodies first and it has to work,” he said. “I don’t know how people write the lyrics first and then write the music after that. Maybe I’ll do that eventually. The framework is the melody and the instrumentation for me. I spend a lot of time after that bringing in the lyrics and taking time to intertwine the two. Having a solid framework is how I usually do it.”
That method has not steered him wrong so far. He is often praised for his songwriting abilities by fans and critics alike.
Soon he will be able to take his newest tracks like the popular hits “Window” and “Rocky” on the road. After having his tour postponed due to the seemingly never-ending COVID-19 Pandemic, Still Woozy kicks off the Isn’t This Nice Tour on September 14 in Tuscon Arizona. After playing some festivals this fall, the largest leg of the tour will last from January to April, visiting much of the United States and parts of Europe.
“I’m really looking forward to playing these songs that were away and hashed from everyone but myself,” he said. “I am curious to see how people react to songs and the moments in songs they will respond to the most.”

That rewarding feeling has a high chance of paying off. His tour dates in several cities have either been moved to larger venues due to high demand, or second dates have been added to fulfill fan’s wishes.
“You write songs and people interpret them in other ways,” he said. “Then when you see it live, you can see some moments for some reason are like ‘Woah, people responded to this lyric’ and so I’m excited to see that.”
Still Woozy is an artist with a lot of spirit and a down-to-earth demeanor. He is loved by fans for his fun and relatable songs. There’s no doubt that he feels the same joy being reciprocated to him by those that adore him. It is rejuvenating to know an artist cares about his music and the way it gets interpreted by fans who care equally about him.
And if that isn’t nice, we don’t know what is.
