Local Detroit Band, Stay Away just released their new single “Disconnect” and it is so great. The song channels an inner emotion we have all felt, the feeling being like we are the only one making an effort in the relationship while the other person has already disconnected from it. It is painful, raw and beautiful. The song has an edgy vibe which makes it a song you can scream out in the car with friends.
Stay Away is an indie rock band from Detroit, members consist of Wasim Bazzi, (guitar and vocals), John Kick, (drums and vocals), and Andrew Benjamin on guitar. The song Disconnect was written by Wasim and John. When asked the story behind the song, Wasim proceeded to tell the story and meaning;
“When I wrote the song I pictured two people sitting at a table together; one of them is trying to save their relationship and the other is just waiting for the conversation to end so they can pack up and leave.”
As heartbreaking as that sounds, it is something that happens to most of us throughout life, which makes the song more relatable. Music always tells a story, and while some are a blur, the story in this song is very clear.
The vocals pair very well with a catchy beat. We absolutely love the single and can’t wait to hear more from the band. Be sure to follow them on social media for updates about current music, and shows near you.
