Andre Allen Anjos, better known as remix artist RAC, has been nominated for the Best Remixed Recording Grammy for the RAC Remix of Odesza’s “Say My Name”.
Anjos was born and raised in Portugal and studied piano and guitar in his teens. He also played in local bands. He moved to the U.S to study music business at Greenville College in Illinois before settling in Portland, Oregon. Anjos found RAC while in his college dorm room and has since gained an audience creating remixes of Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding, Imagine Dragons, and many others.
The Grammy nomination caps off a hugely successful year for RAC, who launch a critically acclaimed monthly single series, performed live sets at summer festivals such as Coachella, Electric Zoo and Bumbershoot, and a complete North American Tour with remix artist Big Data.
Earlier this year RAC released the video for the single “Back of the Car” featuring SNL member Sasheer Zamata, Vogue contributor Karley Sciortino, and was directed by Alex Karpovsky of the HBO series “Girls” along with Teddy Banks. (Check out the video below!)
NPR Music called the song “The jam of the summer” and Vulture called the track “one of the project’s highlights”. Recently RAC released a 2 song-cover-exchange EP with tour partner Big Date entitled “Fair Trade”.
