Spencer Sutherland released his new song “Too Many Friends” on October 2 and the music video this past Friday. The music video premiered on MTV’s Friday Live Stream TRL-esque on YouTube. The retro video was directed by Jason Lester with the help of Jeremy Zucker, Lauv and Julia Michaels, and was shot completely on film.

Written and produced by Jonas Joberg and big names like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, the Jonas Brothers, and Panic! At The Disco, the song focuses on the feeling you get before making the next move. It’s the perfect song for when you’re stressed out.
“Too Many Friends is a big feel good moment for me,” Sutherland said. “In this crazy heavy world, I wanted to let people have an escape for a second and think about something fun. The song was inspired by now serious girlfriend Madison Iseman and is about essentially trying to get out of the friend zone.”

He released his debut single “Heartstrings” back in 2013, and in 2014 toured with two bands Before You Exit and Emblem 3. Following his debut EP NONE of this has been about you in 2019, he toured with Jack & Jack and then headlined his own tour.
His 2019 single “Grateful” is his fastest growing song. It peaked at #1 on the Sirius XM’s Venus Station and has almost 2.5 million streams globally. His first single of 2020 “Help” along with “Too Many Friends” are just the beginning with more much anticipated work coming later this year.

Sutherland is not only a singer, but also a model and actor. Just last week, The Wrap announced that he would be starring in the future Netflix movie Afterlife of the Party. Victoria Justice and Midori Francis will also be acting in it. He will be using his musical talent to write and compose the original music, as well.
