On Friday popular singer Shawn Mendes released his new single “Wonder” from his upcoming album Wonder coming out December 4. It follows the September 30 release of his album “Intro,” which was the first song he has released since his hit “Señorita” with Camila Cabello and “Lover” remix with Taylor Swift. As his first song of 2020, it set the stage for his album and other future projects.
See the “Intro” video below.
“Wonder” is one of Mendes’ most vulnerable and personal songs, speaking on the struggle to express emotions. In it, he speaks on feeling like “less of a man” for crying, fearing saying the worng things, and being real or hiding what he is feeling.
The song also has a romantic side of it, which is more similar to much of his previous music. It started out as a ballad and turned into a powerful and angelic-sounding upbeat song. The chorus portrays this with the lyrics “Right before I close my eyes / The only thing that’s on my mind / Been dreaming that you feel it, too / I wonder what it’s like to be loved by you, yeah…”
Mendes also released a “Wonder” music video the same day. It begins with him on a train and then takes viewers into the woods with him. Toward the end of the video he runs out to a cliff overlooking the ocean where he eventually falls to his knees.

Mendes has taken to his socials to share his thanks for the support and to share some behing the scenes photos from both videos
