Playing With Fire – Jennifer Nettles
Jennifer Nettles established her place in country music as one half of the duo Sugarland. In recent years, however, she has pursued a career on her own. Playing With Fire marks her second studio album release as a solo artist under Big Machine Records. Nettles’ iconic voice and honest lyrics have molded this exemplary album. Plus, the final track on the album features Jennifer Lopez for an added touch.
“Pop Style” – Drake
Drake released his highly anticipated fourth studio album Views at the end of last month. “Pop Style” is the third single from the album and is currently in the iTunes Top 100 singles, along with most of the rest of the album. The radio single features The Throne (Kanye West and Jay Z) although the album cut does not.
“Hell No” – Ingrid Michaelson
Ingrid Michaelson’s newest single “Hell No” is the perfect release for this time of year. The catchy indie pop song is as simple and effective as its title. “Hell No” is what we wish every breakup felt like. Also, the music video was made entirely on Snapchat. Check it out below!
“Chainsaw” – Nick Jonas
The second single from Nick Jonas’ upcoming album Last Year Was Complicated is “Chainsaw.” The track is a breakup song full of longing and anger and pain. It is only one of 12 songs on the upcoming album, but has the potential to be the most honest and emotional one. Check out the video below.
The Heart Speaks in Whispers – Corinne Bailey Rae
Corinne Bailey Rae’s latest release The Heart Speaks in Whispers comes 6 years after her second album. Bailey Rae’s soulful voice, organic sound, and clever lyrics are consistent with her past releases, but on The Heart Speaks in Whispers there are clear R&B and electronic influences. Her unique sound is definite and recognizable, making the album an honest representation of her artistry.
