At 19 years old, Boston native Sasha Alex Sloan flew to Los Angeles to pursue a songwriting deal. At the time, she was nervous, unconfident and a bit lost, trying to navigate her way through the industry. Fast forward to now, Sloan has released 3 incredible EP’s after signing with RCA Records as an artist and most recently, her debut album Only Child– a bold, telling and beautifully written record that has a touch of her own humor.
Now, Sasha Alex Sloan is back with more music to put us in our sad girl feels. As an intro to her upcoming album I Blame the World, Sloan dropped “WTF’, a single where she questions her own existence and the purpose of life.
Sloan is recognized for her brutally honest lyrics. Incorporating themes of childhood trauma, anxiety, depression and bittersweet love into her songs, she is able to connect with listeners by staying true to herself and showing vulnerability- a true gift.
Sloan is transparent and wears her heart on her sleeve, being the voice for what so many people feel, yet are too afraid to say. Still maintaining this lyrical identity, we can now expect a new sound sonically from Sloan as she enters this new era of music.
A music video was released for the single on March 18, alluding to the “this is fine” meme. The video shows Sloan sitting in her living room as it burns in flames around her, yet she stays unfazed. This captures the essence of the song perfectly.
“WTF” is paving the way for the rest of her upcoming album, and we are anxiously awaiting while supporting her every step of the way.
Stay tuned for her album I Blame the World, releasing on May 13!
