On Friday, May 1st, Red Bull Records hosted their Red Bull Records Virtual Festival where artists from their roster participated in performing special live-streamed sets. New to the roster, Sad Alex debuted her new single “hypotheticals” during her showcase.
“hypotheticals” is a simplistic, upbeat song bringing attention for two minutes to a question that haunts those who recently ended a relationship: “What went wrong?” With a simple production of vocals, electric guitar, and a pocket-drum beat, Sad Alex ponders what the fate of her relationship would have been if she changed herself.
“It’s pretty normal to go down the rabbit hole of ‘what could I do differently to make them love me,’ right? Whether it’s trying to win someone over or change yourself after a relationship didn’t work out, we’ve all seen the 2009 film classic, ‘He’s Just Not That Into You.’ For me, ‘hypotheticals’ covers the latter,” Sad Alex notes regarding her inspiration behind the song.
With gaining over one million views and Spotify placements in more than 16 countries with her debut single, “all the way over” and now releasing “hypotheticals”, Sad Alex has an arsenal of highly-anticipated singles to come.
