Girl Meets World may have come to an end, but Sabrina Carpenter isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, she’s running full speed ahead with infectious music and her empowering new single “Thumbs”.
Since her announcement that she is the new face for Revlon, the Disney songstress began to tease her new music video for “Thumbs” via Instagram.
After much teasing and anticipation, fans finally got to see the music video on February 10 at Midnight EST, and the video is every thing we thought it would be and more. Carpenter has a way of capturing stories in music videos, and this one is no exception to that rule. The video accompanies the track and its message flawlessly. The concept of the video is quite creative and perfectly empowering. Carpenter, looking as fierce as ever, can be seen on a subway laced in all black and surrounded by everyday people, who are, in fact, just twiddling their thumbs.
Throughout the video, it displays everyday people coming to and from work, and to spice things up a little bit, Carpenter adds in some killer dance moves and flashy lights. Toward the bridge, each person riding the subway sings a lyric, explaining why we shouldn’t be one of those people just twiddling their thumbs but rising above that and becoming your own person. The music video as a whole demonstrates a message that many in the world can resonate with, executing the importance of unity and coming together.
According to Carpenter, “Thumbs” is the one track on EVOLution that she didn’t write but she wish she did. We can’t blame her. The track captures an idea that many songs nowadays fail to do. It’s empowering and the music video makes it that much more inspiring. Props to the 17-year old for going against the grain and releasing a song that empowers everyone who listens.
Carpenter is currently promoting the single at radio stations around the U.S. She will also be joking the Vamps on their UK and Ireland leg of their upcoming tour this spring.
