We’ve known for some time now that Sabrina Carpenter has been in the studio working on new music. Earlier this summer, the Disney star teased that new music will be released throughout the rest of the year. This past February she released ‘Smoke and Fire’ and now she’s pleasing your summer ears with her newest track ‘On Purpose’. The song was released on July 29th and may be our favorite Sabrina has ever done.
The track is both romantic and energetic while Carpenter’s voice shines through. It’s a song about falling in love accidentally on purpose. Most who listen will relate to the track more than they realize. The same happened for the Girl Meets World star, “I didn’t know how much this song would mean to me when I wrote it but it’s just the first taste of what’s to come”. If this is what’s to come for the singer then we aren’t complaining.
The up-tempo poppy track is perfect for summer, while the chorus will inevitably get stuck in your head. ‘And all these days I never thought / I would need someone so much / who knew? / But I don’t think I ever fell / for these circumstances / but you / it’s you / I know this / but I guess that we did it on purpose / on purpose / on purpose / baby I know it’s weird / but it’s worth it / I guess we did it on purpose “
The track is lyrically strong and expresses raw emotion throughout, especially in Carpenters vocals that are unique and stands out amongst the rest. “On Purpose’ showcases maturity in Sabrina unlike anything we have seen before. Needless to say, ‘On Purpose’ is one of the best tracks of the summer, and we can’t wait to see what else the Disney songstress has up her sleeve.
