You haven’t heard of Wolf Alice yet? Which means you haven’t heard the new album yet?! What are you doing! (It’s okay – lots of good music happening right now, but here’s more). Staff member Abby Fox is bringing you one of the coolest albums of this year, so check out her words below:
“Wolf Alice’s debut album, My Life is Cool, seemed almost impossible to follow, but the British alt-rock group has done it yet again with their second album, Visions of a Life, which was released late last month. Within the first eerie notes and guitar strums of the first single, “Heavenward,” I was hooked, and the rest of the tracks proved to be just as impressive. The collection is extremely diverse, with sounds spanning different genres, from rage-filled rock in “Yuk Foo,” to hypnotic alt-pop in “Don’t Delete the Kisses” and “Beautifully Unconventional,” to the creepy whispered “Sky Musings,” to the foot-tapping rock track “Space & Time.” I rarely hear an album with such a variety of sounds; there are tracks to suit every mood and it’s the perfect soundtrack to listen to throughout the day, whether while walking to class, running errands, or even just driving with the windows down enjoying the beginnings of the fall weather. After announcing a long list of tour dates in Japan, Europe, and a few shows in the U.S., I couldn’t be more excited to see these songs performed live. This band definitely knows how to take their fans on a twisted, fascinating journey through music, which is something really special.”
