Doing something different grants you an audience. Straying from the ordinary, and doing it well, brings you success. That’s the cool thing about this week’s #ROTW artist — his authenticity shows through his music and his personality (and it’s why we’re such big fans). Anna Xu talks about her choice for Record of the Week below:
“This week’s #ROTW isn’t actually an album. Lostboycrow has found his success in part by continually releasing singles throughout the year, singles that consistently find their way into a Spotify featured playlist to rack up millions of streams. Lostboycrow hits the road this fall on his first headlining tour (which you can check out the dates above), and he is not to be missed.
Lostboycrow is a vision, a concept, and a person. He creates music that feels simultaneously personal and relatable. Every sound and piece of imagery tied to the Lostboycrow name is artistic and deliberate; on his three-part album, the first of which was released at the start of the summer, the songs reference past and future songs in their lyrics, weaving a fabric of the Lostboycrow ethos, a world of spirituality and wondering.
What can sometimes be missed in the world of Lostboycrow is the person himself. With all of his self-searching musical expression, Lostboycrow is also a dude from Portland. Exceptionally kind and perceptive, Lostboycrow embodies the world he has created and engages with fans to pull them into that world. Even though Lostboycrow deserves his impending success (at least this blogger thinks so), his relevant sound and substantive lyrical content makes that success inevitable.”
