Today the official Riot Fest 2024 lineup came with some new changes to the surprise of many long-time festival goers. Now in Bridgeview, Illinois, at SeatGeek Stadium the fest announced its lineup today along with the announcement of Riotland, “A Choose Your Own Adventure” experience, where attendees can explore and engage with a variety of themed areas and activities that are set to change from day to night. The fully interactive site is set to launch in a couple of weeks, but a sneak peak includes things like the AAA stage, a casino, the Q101 Radio Tower, and House of Law (courthouse by day, OZ nightclub at night).
Established in 2005, Riot Fest is one of the largest alternative fests in the US, now nearly two decades in the running boasting a large variety of punk, rock, and alternative artists. Headlining on Friday is Fall Out Boy, making their first appearance at the festival since 2013. On Saturday brings Beck and Pavement, followed by a reunion performance from Slayer. Additionally, NOFX will be performing all three days of the festival as a final farewell. On top of the headliners this year brings many other notable performances like Rob Zombie, The Offspring, Sublime, St. Vincent, Sum 41, New Found Glory, and Bright Eyes.
Other performances you won’t wanna miss include Waxahatchee, Taking Back Sunday, Hot Mulligan, State Champs, Laura Jane Grace, L.S. Dunes, Sir Chloe, and Slaughter Beach Dog, just to name a few. For fans of the full album plays the fest offers, this year features Offspring performing “Smash,” Manchester Orchestra with “Cope,” and Mastodon performing “Leviathan.”
Though the location change came as a surprise to many, the pushback about Riot Fest taking place in Douglass Park on the west side has many agreeing that this change is for the better of both the fest and the neighbors in Douglass Park. Riot Fest also stated that they will continue their efforts to support neighbors in and around Douglass Park with local artists, hiring, and sponsorship of Juneteeth festivals as well as events stretching into the fall.
