Austin’s been lucky to have Reignwolf here twice in a year after about seven years away! Opening this show this past Thursday were local bands Otis the Destroyer and Blackillac – both bands perfectly set the tone for the night.
Jordan Cook (otherwise known as Reignwolf) has been a part of the festival circuit the last few years and has amassed a sizeable following with releasing only a handful of singles because of his incredible live shows. He was here just last year at Antone’s; this time around at the Scoot Inn, which allowed for a bit more breathing room for the music. The sheer intensity of energy Cook has with his two other band members (S.J Kardash and Joseph Braley) is truly awe-inspiring. The stand out song of the night was “Electric Love” with Cook becoming a one man show singing, playing the guitar and smashing the drums all simultaneously.
It’s been entirely too long since he was in town, and here’s hoping it’s not another seven years before the next time Austin gets to see Reignwolf again. Regardless, these guys are not a band to miss.
