It’s been pretty much a lifetime since we’ve gotten new PRETTYMUCH music and we were starting to get worried. No need to freak because the boys are back with their brand new EP Smackables and we are loving it.
After the success of their 2019 Phases and INTL:EP, which was a collection of collaborations with international artists including CNCO, Luisa Sonza, NCT DREAM and Inigo Pascual, the fivesome, consisting of Austin Porter, Brandon Arreaga, Edwin Honoret, Nick Mara and Zion Kuwonu, were ready to hit the road announcing they would be opening for Camila Cabello on her Romance Tour, not knowing what chaotic year the world would go through. The band took time in 2020 to work in the studio, create youtube videos, make TikToks, and even start a family as Porter became a dad in May to a beautiful boy named Theodore.
With a new year here, PRETTYMUCH gave us the gift of new music with their recent single “Stars,” a 90’s esque beat with bass and drums that beautifully showcases each member’s vocals, along with a vibrant music video directed by Natalie Fält and choreographed by none other than Ian Eastwood because it wouldn’t be a PRETTYMUCH video without dancing.
The 3-track EP includes “Stars” as well as a guitar-driven , mellow, harmonious “Free” and heartbreaking “Parking Spot.” The EP has that unique PRETTYMUCH pop sound but redeveloped into a more mature sound with powerful production, striking lyrics, groovy beats and impeccable harmonies that establishes the bands growth. The cover art, conceptualized by none other than Arreaga who took inspiration from the iconic Lunchables brand, to create a unique and colorful artwork.
With a brand new sound, management and record label, PRETTYMUCH 2.0 is here and ready to take over the world. Smackables only showcases the beginning of what this incredible group can accomplish.
You can listen to Smackables on all streaming platforms here.
