The feeling of hearing a song for the first time and instantly falling in love and finding your new favorite artist is a feeling we know all too well. Listening to Cloe Wilder’s “You & Lonely” mirrors that feeling.
The indie-pop singer-songwriter recently released her brand new single “You & Lonely” that is the beautiful rainy day ballad. At just 14 years old Wilder perfectly illuminates the raw emotions of an important friendship coming to an end. Wilder drew inspiration from her own experience saying she hoped the song would bring the friendship back together but had to learn to accept the friendship wasn’t meant to last and “they were to only be a part of each other’s lives for a short while.” The song emulates the strong feeling of loneliness when a friendship is over and you feel you have nobody else to turn to.
Wilder also released a music video for the new single filmed at home while social distancing. The video focuses on Wilder in various spot of her home and truly captures the feeling of solitude and heartache saying “even pre-COVID, I knew that I wanted to create a lonely video, with just me, and I think we captured that. Loneliness is a pretty collective emotion, especially now. I want to make people feel a little less lonely, if I can.”
While Wilder has not been in the industry long, beginning her career posting covers to YouTube in 2018 and reading her debut single “Overthinking” in 2018, she definitely found her passion young and had the talent to become one of the next rising artists. Taking inspiration from the likes of Sasha Sloan, Charlotte Lawrence and Lennon Stella, Wilder’ career is sure to launch into stardom soon.
