I remember hearing Cheap Trick for the first time when I was 7 years old. My mom had the classic rock station on the car radio and Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” was playing, then Deep Purple, and finally Chicago.
Of course I was made fun of in school because I listened to “old people’s music”, but I shrugged it off easy because classic rock is music and it’s awesome. So I’m sharing my classic rock playlist that’s perfect for any season. Plus, you may find yourself liking some of these legendary bands.
The first 4 bands in the playlist: Chicago, Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, and The Steve Miller Band were all inducted to the Rock N’Roll Hall Fame this pass April. Cheap Trick was known as a live band and if you look up footage of them from the 70s, 80s, and even 90s they knew how to put on a show and guess what they still do! Their Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame performance is proof. Chicago’s track “Saturday in The Park” is perfect for a summer day. This band has an incredible horn section and their songs are catchy. Not to mention they were also known for their live performances as well.
The Steve Miller Band was also inducted and one of my favorites will always be “Jungle Love” because it’s catchy and it’s just cool. Can’t forget Deep Purple’s “Hush” even though if you played Rockband or Guitar Hero back in the day, most likely you played “Smoke On The Water”. In fact, it’s one of the first songs that future guitarists learn, but “Hush” is just as good as “Smoke On The Water”.
Check out the rest of the playlist that includes Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
