Zolita brought the house down at New York City’s Pier 17 rooftop venue on Sunday, July 18th, 2023. She opened up for mega star Bebe Rexha, who she’s been on tour with since late May and has made stops in cities such as Phoenix, San Diego, and Chicago. This is her second performance in New York City this month, the first being at the Governors Ball Music Festival.
Zolita, whose real name is Zoë Montana Hoetzel, is a pop singer songwriter known for her catchy tunes and personal lyricism, which often recounts stories from her own love life. Zolita gained recognition for her music and visual art projects, which explore themes of identity, sexuality, and empowerment.
The atmosphere at the concert was charged with anticipation as the crowd eagerly awaited Zolita’s arrival. When the moment arrived, she appeared, draped in an ethereal ensemble that perfectly embodied her artistic essence. Covered in sequins and sparkles, Zolita looked like a pop princess dancing around the stage. Since the start of her career, Zolita has been a proud member and outspoken advocate for the LBTQ community. During her performance, she spoke about what it meant to her to be performing during pride month and how she continues to fight for representation. She also spoke about how her last album, “Evil Angel”, is all about her past relationship and how she might have aired out her ex’s dirty laundry a little too hard. Moving forward, Zolita expressed she wants to try and be more secretive about what goes on in her “messy” love life.
