On Monday, October 15th, the line for The Vic Theater in Chicago was out the door, around the block, around the corner and even farther than that. As fans filled into the venue, the excitement was unreal. The decibel of noise as excited fans chatted about the nights to come grew and grew to an almost deafening level.
Finally, as the lights dropped, the moment they had been waiting for was finally here. British synth-pop band, Years & Years took the stage. Ambient pink light filled the stage, the band took their spots and frontman Olly Alexander took the stage to an even more deafening level of cheers. Strutting across the stage, Alexander connected with fans, waving to those in the higher balconies or farther from the stage, acknowledging those who had spent hours waiting outside in line to gain a coveted spot at the barricade.
As the show continued on, it was truly apparent how important it was for the entire band to connect with the audience. Smiles, waved hands and more came from every single member on stage, creating a feeling of inclusion and happiness throughout the night. No matter who was there, where they came from or what they felt inside, they were accepted at Years & Years’ Chicago show and beyond.
Years & Years created a feeling of love, kindness, compassion and inclusion throughout the night. Creating a special moment for fans and playing everything from their latest release Palo Santo, there was nothing like the feeling inside The Vic in Chicago.
