For decades, boybands have dominated the charts and taken over the world of pop music. Their importance in the pop music landscape is unparalleled, and Why Don’t We made it clear that they’re determined to contribute to that trend during their sold-out show at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night. Their catchy melodies and perfectly executed dance routines left the venue filled with girls screeching and swooning the entire night.
Why Don’t We is currently touring across North America in support of their project, 8 Letters, which dropped last August via Atlantic Records. The group came on stage with an epic start, kicking off the night with fan favorites “Trust Fund Baby,” “M.I.A.,” and “Choose.” Each member of the band executed their parts perfectly with each song that passed, and as the night went on the performance only got stronger and stronger. Their energy never wavered, and neither did the audience’s enthusiasm.
The connection Why Don’t We has with their fans is undeniable. They’re incredibly active online in their downtime on and off tour, always interacting and joking around with fans. While it can often be hard for a connection like that to translate into a live show, it’s clear that all of the work those boys put into getting to know their fans pays off. With each song Why Don’t We played, their fans hung on every word, singing each line back louder then the one before.
By the end of the night, it was clear that both the band and their fans didn’t want the show to be over. The amount of love and pride in Radio City Music Hall was unparalleled. The band closed with their newest single “I Don’t Belong In This Club (ft. Macklemore)” which was the perfect send off for their fans.
