Forty minutes before the band takes the stage, what most people expect is a line out the door, the merch line to be even longer and fans to be eagerly waiting for the band to take the stage. At a Why Don’t We show, that’s completely different.
Forty minutes before Why Don’t We took the stage in Chicago on March 3rd, there was already a chant: “Why Don’t We, Why Don’t We,” and it went on and on. The Invitation Tour was well anticipated and limelights were finally there to see it.
As soon as the lights dropped after opener Eben Franckewitz’ set, the screams were deafening. Fans in the front row, who had been waiting since 11 am or even earlier were finally about to see the five bands that really have changed their lives.
As Jonah Marais, Zach Herron, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery and Corbyn Besson took the stage, the night began and never stopped. Starting the set with the classic “Air of The Night (Smooth Step)” opening, Why Don’t We performed a show stopping hour and a half set that never let fans down.
Between their classic mashups and new single (that we can’t get out of our heads), “Trust Fund Baby,” Why Don’t We performed an unbelievable night at House of Blues Chicago. Fan favorites included “Free,” which may have filled the audience with tears, “Something Different,” which even had a few moms dancing and “These Girls.” While Why Don’t We aren’t considered the typical boyband, the choreography and production were stylistic, well planned and perfect for The Invitation Tour.
While we were only there to experience one of three nights, we definitely wish we would have been there. Why Don’t We get to see them every night?
