We always get so giddy when we hear that Waterparks is coming to town and this time was no exception. With the recent release of their new album “FANDOM”, we knew we were in for a treat.
Last night, we headed out to the House of Blues in Cleveland to catch Waterparks. Even on a windy and snow night, the room was packed in a sea of neon green for the band. The first time they played in Cleveland, the opened for Never Shout Never on the same stage, so there was a bit of a feeling of nostalgia in the air as they took the stage and blew us away with the amount of growth we saw from then to now.
They started their set with a song called “Cherry Red” which got the audience jumping and screaming right from the start. Throughout the set, there was not a moment where any adoring Waterparks could possibly be sad. Front man, Awsten Knight, even stopped the set to throw guitar picks into the crowd. He then gave the ecstatic security guards in the pit some guitar picks so they could try their hand at throwing them as well. We also were surprised to hear drummer, Otto Wood, do a very exciting cover of “Tip Toe Thru’ The Tulips With Me” by Tiny Tim. Man, no one was expecting that.
The band played their newest releases, “Entertainment 2019” and “Double Dare 2019”, as well as all their hits from “FANDOM” which left every single person in that room to leave with a smile on their face. We had such a good time seeing Waterparks that we can hardly wait until next time!
