In honor of the 10 year anniversary of their self titled debut album, Walk the Moon set out on a small tour of select cities. Bringing things back to some of the first venues they played, Walk the Moon brought a very special evening and performance to their biggest fans across the country. Love for the band and their music filled San Francisco’s Fillmore, and the entire venue had an incredible night together.
It truly was a special and unique night, Walk the Moon said it best – “We are going to do things a little differently tonight.” There was no opening act, and the show was split into three acts. It was all about Walk the Moon, their fans and a celebration for the love of their music.
The first act was what was advertised, playing their debut album Walk the Moon live from front to back. The band themselves couldn’t believe how long it has been either. Frontman Nicholas Petricca paused the show partway through this act to comment on the stories he’s heard over the years. How fans constantly told them how much the band and music meant to them, how their music has gotten them through different parts of their lives. His favorite thing he’s been told, he recounted, was how their music and concerts served as a safe space for all. Fans relished this act and this moment, hearing songs that haven’t been played live for some time.
After a brief break the group one by one came back for a series of stripped down, acoustic songs. Walk the Moon played four songs in this act “Surrender,” “Avalanche,” “Different Colors” and “Anywayican.”
The show was not over as a third act came in and the band performed even more music. Showcasing tracks from their entire discography, songs stretching from “Tête-à-tête” (a bonus track off their debut) to “Shut Up and Dance” (their song from TALKING IS HARD that exploded on the charts) to “Population of Two” (off their most recent album HEIGHTS). Even with all this the fans still did not have enough, the night came to a roaring close with an encore performance of “One Foot.” It was a night for everyone in the venue to remember. Words cannot express enough the level of love and happiness shared between the sold out crowd, and Walk the Moon themselves.
