After recently touring with Lorde, Tove Styrke set out on her own headline tour – packing and selling out many venues along the way. Her Portland set was at the intimate Holocene, and although the venue caps out at a couple hundred people it felt like thousands were in attendance.
With a stage surrounded by glowing roses and a decorated microphone, the love between Tove Styrke and her fans was felt immediately. Her shows and set takes intimate concert experiences to an entirely new level. Her comfort onstage shines through her performance as she dances across every inch of the stage, making eye contact and touching her fans as she moves past them. She guides her audience easy into swaying with her, jumping wildly through the drops some of her songs, and crouching down to jump back up at her instruction. Normally fans are the ones that bring flowers to throw them on stage for the artist they adore, but Tove Styrke flips the script. She brought with her a bundle of roses, and threw them into the crowd and fans that she loves so much. And after the show she took the time to meet with every single person that stayed after to express her love and gratitude for them for making it out to her show and supporting her.
Her set contained nearly every song of her album Sway, with older songs and covers spread throughout the set. Most notably and fittingly, she performed her cover of Lorde’s “Liability.”
It’s only a matter of time before Tove Styrke is headlining shows to thousands of her own fans. Her fanbase is devoted and the popularity of her releases is growing fast. Her talent is undeniable, and seeing the energy she has paired with her vocal and musical talent is mind-blowing. She’s already gained the attention of top artists like Lorde, and is a fast growing artist with so much potential. The era and success of Sway is extremely exciting, and will be even more exciting to see what Tove Styrke has planned for the future.
