Despite spraining her ankle on stage weeks prior, Tove Lo insisted that the show must go on. She threw on a boot, and threw down with the Portland crowd for a nearly two hour show late last month. The 21 song set included songs from all four of her studio albums, with almost half of the set being dedicated to the recently released Sunshine Kitty. The record’s lead single “Glad He’s Gone” opened the show, followed by “Bad as the Boys” – where Tove was joined by opener and the track’s featured guest, ALMA. The pair have undeniable musical chemistry, and Tove took every opportunity to get her friend and frequent collaborator back on stage with her.
Tove’s energy was sky high from the second she stepped on stage, and she only seemed to be warming up. Despite the clunky boot on her right leg, she was on her feet for the whole show, and was dancing as if nothing had changed. Songs like “True Disaster”, “Jacques”, and “Are U gonna tell her?” practically beg for some sort of dance break, and Tove delivered just that. Other tracks like the revealing “hey, you got drugs?” and the emotional “Moments” – which was done on piano – showed the depth and variety of both Tove as a musician, and Tove as a performer. We couldn’t be happier that we got to catch her show, and we’re already counting the days until she comes back. Check out some photos from the show below, and be sure to see Tove Lo when she comes to your city!
