After a seemingly endless spell of clouds and rain, Portland was finally blessed with sunshine; something the city had desperately been craving. Is it a coincidence that the sun came out the day that Tori Kelly rolled into town? We think not. Portland’s legendary Crystal Ballroom was packed to the brim with fans eager to hear Kelly’s golden pipes, and she more than lived up to the hype. Singing a slew of unreleased and EP tracks, as well as songs from her debut album Unbreakable Smile and her Grammy winning sophomore album Hiding Place, Kelly proved her talents as a musical storyteller were just as impressive as her powerhouse vocals.
The stage set up included a chairs, lamps, and a couch, giving the impression that Kelly was singing out of her own living room, making for an extremely intimate experience. The show was entirely acoustic as well, which made the show all the more intimate and impactful. Despite the simplistic nature of the show, it was nearly impossible not to be swept up in the talent and beauty that is Tori Kelly, proving the she is a songstress with a voice that deserves to be heard.
