Thundercat stepped onstage at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall Thanksgiving weekend but didn’t come alone…
His longtime friend, Louis Cole, kicked off the evening with an impressive set showing off his multi-instrumentalist skills.
Compton-native, Channel Tres, took over the stage next alongside his backup dancers offering a set filled with swag, dance, and style.
Before Thundercat took the stage, producer and DJ, Flying Lotus, properly set the tone for the rest of the evening with an eclectic set revving up show-goers and getting them excited and ready for what was to come.
And it was time for the GRAMMY award-winning artist to takeover and enchant the audience with his quirky style, mind-bending artistry, and signature 6-string bass guitar.
Thundercat dazzled the evening with his hits “Dragonball Durag”, “Funny Thing”, and more off of his latest album, It Is What It Is.
The evening with Thundercat wasn’t complete without more of his friends joining him onstage…
HAIM, Steve Lacy, Ty Dolla $ign, and Kamasi Washington also joined Thundercat during his set.
The three sisters of HAIM joined Thundercat for a performance of their song, “3AM”, Stevy Lacy joined in on “Black Qualls”, Ty Dolla $ign vocals accompanied Thundercat on their song, “Fair Chance”, and Kamasi Washington brought his saxophone to rip their hit, “Them Changes”. Louis Cole also came back onstage to play drums appropriately to their song, “I Love Louis Cole”.
It was an exciting night featuring an iconic lineup.
