On Saturday night Irish pop-rock band The Script treated Manchester to a show of epic proportions as they returned to the Manchester Arena on the third show of their Europe 2020 Sunsets and Full Moons tour. The trio consisting of lead singer Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power have been stealing the hearts of listeners for over 13 years now and with their sixth studio album, Sunsets & Full Moons, still managing to earn them a number one spot on the UK album chart it’s clear they’re not going to stop conquering the music scene anytime soon…
First up onto the stage was upcoming pop star Becky Hill who bounced onto the stage to greet the audience in attendance as she grinned from cheek to cheek throughout her upbeat and lively set. Hill has been the recipient of her own musical success as of lately with tracks such as, “Lose Control”, “Better Off Without You” and “Wish You Well” all earning her high up spots on the UK music charts it’s evidently clear that the 26 year old is already proving herself as a force to be reckoned with and is set for huge things in the very near future. You can catch Becky Hill as she embarks in a string of her own headlining shows next month by grabbing tickets here! But be quick as she’s already sold out some venues across the UK!
Even before The Script took to the stage the entire arena and us included were already in shock as the gigantic LED screen began to slowly make its way closer to the stage and lit the venue up as the band had only gone and brought the moon into the Manchester Arena, you read that right. A moon into the Arena…
The night appropriately kicked off with a bang as the trio quickly lept into the first song of the night with “Something Unreal” which was was a clear sign of things to come. The band is famously known for its audience interaction during their live shows but tonight was on a whole new level, from parading down the aisles with a GoPro to performing an intimate set in the literal crowd amongst those in the seated area of the Arena, the list goes on. However a personal highlight has to be when Danny took the phone of a fan in the front row and proceeded to ring up her ex partner as he and the Manchester crowd belted out the heart wrenching song “Nothing” down the phone!
With a discography as good as The Script’s this show could’ve lasted the entire night and yet fans would still be pleading for an encore however the night came to a close with “For The First Time” and the Mancunian crowd were able to leave the venue having experienced a night full of laughter, joy and also tears, but knowing that they had witnessed a show for the ages.
