In the middle of August, Los Angeles rock band The Regrettes took Portland’s Wonder Ballroom by storm. We caught the band last time they played Wonder back in 2019 and we couldn’t wait to see their triumphant return to Portland. Their most recent album Further Joy shows the band continuing to embrace their signature unapologetic swagger while also experimenting with brighter sounds and styles. Like the title suggests, the band can be seen furthering their own joy with a collection of songs that fit beautifully into the band’s already impressive catalogue.
The Regrettes have become known for having tons of energy on stage and this show was no different. Frontwoman Lydia Night was trying to form mosh pits right out the gate and yet her energy – and the energy of her bandmates Genessa, Brooke, and Drew – never once dipped during the entirety of the show. They played standout tracks from each of their previous albums such as “Seashore” from their debut Feel Your Feelings Fool! and “I Dare You” and “California Friends” from their sophomore album How Do You Love?, while still heavily featuring the recently released Further Joy. The show more than lived up to the expectations they set from their show three years ago, and we’re so happy to see The Regrettes continuing to be such a force in the music world.
