As Riot Fest drew to a close Sunday night and the crowd began to thin out, the line outside Concord Music Hall grew longer and longer, as fans waited for one last aftershow featuring Sleeping With Sirens with support from Calva Louise.
The late start time certainly brought no damper to the energy of the night—led by vocalist Kellin Quinn Sleeping With Sirens took the stage to the enthusiastic cheering of the crowd, opening up with “Apathetic” off their 7th studio album, Complete Collapse. The setlist itself was a perfect blend of old and new, featuring older classics like “Kick Me,” “If You’re James Dean, I’m Audrey Hepburn,” and “Do It Now Remember It Later,” as well as newer songs like “Crosses” and “Talking to Myself.” Winding down for the acoustic section of their set came the thundering sound of the crowd enthusiastically singing along to “Scene Two: Roger Rabbit” as well as a cover of “Iris.”
With well over a decade of touring and releasing records, it’s clear Sleeping With Sirens stage presence and energetic sets are a testament to their continued success in the scene as well as their 2.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
For fans that worried the end of the night was coming too quickly, after their first encore Kellin Quinn asked the crowd if they should play one more song or two, the resounding answer of ‘two’ quickly filling the room. As the final notes of “If You Can’t Hang” rang out, Quinn thanked the crowd, signaling the end of a great set, and a great end to Riot Fest.
