PHOTOS: Porter Robinson – Portland, OR – 10/31/2024

 

On Halloween night, Porter Robinson – dressed as a fox – brought the “SMILE 😀 WORLD TOUR” to Portland, OR’s Theater of the Clouds. Many fans came dressed in costume as well, adding a playful atmosphere to the air long before Porter hit the stage. When he did hit the stage however, the atmosphere went from playful to downright ecstatic as the crowd locked in for what was sure to be an incredible night with Porter Robinson.

It didn’t take Porter long to embrace the Halloween spirit; after just a song or two he threw handfuls of candy into the crowd and shouted-out fans’ costumes like inflatable Pikachu and Kirby in the upper section, and the various people dressed as Teemo from League of Legends on the floor. At one point he even collected a few Teemo hats from the crowd before singing his song “Everything Goes On,” a collaboration with League of Legends.

While the night included plenty of impromptu moments, the overall production ran like a well oiled machine. The show was split into three acts, starting with his most recent project SMILE 😀 and going backwards through his career. Given how different each of his albums are in both sound and theme, it makes sense to give them each their own moment to shine, and the choice ended up being an inspired one. 

Starting with the angst of SMILE 😀, progressing to the uplifting nature of Nurture, and finishing with the escapistWorlds made for a beautiful journey through Porter’s career. Like a good trilogy or three act play, this show’s structure made room for a range of emotions to be explored, only this time we were exploring it through his impeccably crafted dance music. 

While admittedly not as spooky as some other Halloween activities, we couldn’t be happier that we spent our Halloween with Porter Robinson. Check out some photos from the show below, and click here to see Porter Robinson’s upcoming tour dates!
