On their first tour since the release of their 2016 album Oh My My, One Republic celebrates with the California Bay Area at the beautiful Shoreline Amphitheater on the Never Ending Summer Tour.
The group wasted no time getting the party started, the lights faded and the massive screens behind the stage flashed scenes of the summer. One Republic took the stage and immediately jumped into their large discography and hits, starting their night with their hit song “Kids.”
The hits kept coming and the crowd kept roaring as the band continued through their discography with “Good Life,” “Stop and Stare,” and “Secrets.” Frontman Ryan Tedder commanded the attention of the crowd with his showmanship, strutting across the stage and being perfectly in tune.
With the band touring and being together for 15 years, they decided to revamp the tour and try something new. About halfway through the show they played a portions and covers of hit songs, written by the group for other artists. It highlighted the talents and songwriting of the band in a unique way. They opened the medley series with Beyonce’s “Halo,” and continuing with Ellie Goulding’s” Burn,” transitioning into Adele’s “21,” parts of songs from Maroon 5, Lil Nas X’s “That’s What I Want,” and finishing with the Jonas Brother’s “Sucker.”
The night began to come to a close but One Republic continued to give the audience their all. A special video from actor Tom Cruise was played before the song “I Ain’t Worried” that One Republic wrote for the Top Gun sequel. The night closed with two of One Republic’s biggest songs “Counting Stars” and “If I Lose Myself.”
One Republic set out to recreate their tour into one of the biggest and best shows of the year, and they succeeded. It was an incredible night showcasing the talent behind One Republic, and a night the crowd and band will cherish.
