Returning to North America for the first time since 2019, Australian indie electronic trio Mansionair took the stage at the Metro. With support from Social Animals, they arrived in Chicago for the 7th stop of their Happiness Guaranteed Tour, titled after their most recent album release. From opening with the newer song “Guillotine” to many favorites off their debut album like “Alibi,” “Falling,” and “Easier,” their 13-song setlist included a perfect blend of new and old. The Australian trio also performed a couple of recent covers like Still Don’t Know My Name to the small but eager crowd.
Despite the three year hiatus, fans young and old made it clear that the wait did not deter them from celebrating their return and enjoying the night, paired with Mansionair’s lead singer Jack Froggatt expressing his gratitude to be back with the ‘Chicagoan’ crowd, followed by a laugh and an inquiry if that was a real term or something he just made up. Mansionair’s most recent album, Happiness, Guaranteed, released only a short month or two ago, takes a much more energetic and open, no-expectations approach than their previous album which definitely resonated with the audience as notes from tracks like “Happy Now” and “Strangers” rang out through the enthustiatic crowd.
