Maggie Rogers recently began her first ever headlining arena tour, supporting her third studio album Don’t Forget Me. “This tour feels like the end of a big circle” she said during her performance at Portland, OR’s Moda Center at the end of last month. The idea of closing a circle – or coming home – is a major theme of Don’t Forget Me and it radiated during the show.
Rogers’ voice is somehow even more breathtaking in person; for nearly two hours she sang a variety of songs from throughout her career with incredible passion. Whether singing something more upbeat like “Want Want” or a slower track like “All The Same,” she delivered jaw-dropping vocal performances time and time again.
During a slower part of the show, she lit incense while sitting at the piano and told stories about her connection to Portland. Starting with a love for Sleater-Kinney and developing further during a trip to the Portland during college, she noted that Portland once helped stitch her back together. It was a deeply touching moment, echoed by the passion and vulnerability of her performance all night.
We’re so lucky to have caught one of the final nights of the “Don’t Forget Me” tour. Maggie Rogers is a special performer, and we’re already looking forward to the next time she hits the road.
