Officially the weekend, I began my Saturday at the Tito’s stage with a set from Alexander 23. The singer, songwriter, and producer garnered a massive crowd to the Tito stage as he played hits like IDK You Yet and Crash. Continuing my pop roadmap, I headed to the T-Mobile stage on the southside of the festival to catch FLETCHER, who played her first-ever main stage at festival. After dancing to anthems like Undrunk and Cherry, I once again found myself at the Discord stage in the crowd of Gracie Abrams, fresh off her tour with Olivia Rodrigo. The raw, emotional tunes had fans dancing swaying and definitely shedding tears.
The most surprising set of the day came next as Wallows took to a main stage, performing to a the largest Wallows crowd I’ve ever seen. After opening the day at Lollapalooza in 2019, this California-based band has made massive leaps as they played the sunset slot on the T-Mobile stage on Saturday.
One of my favorite pieces of Lollapalooza is the Bud Light Seltzer Sessions – a small stage amidst the massive production where artists play intimate sets to a handful of people throughout the day. After loving Alexander’s 23‘s kick off that morning and having a chance to chat with him backstage, I made a spontaneous decision to catch his Seltzer Session on Saturday afternoon. It’s always fun to see artists in differing formats, and this set was no different. This sidetracked decision left me just enough time to catch Gayle shut down the BMI stage with her TikTok famous break-up anthem, abcdefu. Watching her from the back of the crowd was one of the best decisions of the weekend; it was incredible to see fans from all over the park sprint to the stage as they heard this familiar tune echo throughout the fest. I closed out the day with sets from Chelsea Cutler and Kygo before resting up for a final day.
