If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be caught in a storm of pure chaos and unrelenting energy, attending a Knocked Loose show is about as close as you can get to that experience. From the moment the lights drop and the opening riff of Thirst cuts through the air, you know you’re in for something special — and, frankly, dangerous.
The crowd? A whirlwind of bodies. From seasoned veterans to first-timers, everyone is there to lose themselves in the ferocity of Knocked Loose’s breakdowns and unrelenting riffs. From circle pits, to moshing, to crowd surfing, the entire floor of Aragon Ballroom was a sea of movement as security helped crowd surfer after crowd surfer back into the audience. Featuring a appeasing mix of songs off their newest record You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, they also made sure to include older classics such as Deadringer, Counting Worms, and Billy No Mates.
With support from Militarie Gun, Drain, and Danny Brown, the night fulfilled its promise of electric energy and crowd participation. Knocked Loose expressed their gratitude to the crowd, calling Chicago their second home, recalling a time where they played the Metro as their biggest show in Chicago, now superseded by nearly selling out the Aragon, a venue nearly 5x as large. Coming off the mounting success of their previous records as well as playing to a huge crowd at Lollapalooza this past summer, Knocked Loose has earned their popularity and growth pushing them almost into the mainstream, all while remaining true to their original sound. With the culmination being their newest and arguably their most ambitious record yet, the aforementioned You Won’t Go Until You’re Supposed To.
Though they may never play a small and intimate show like the ones past at the Metro and Cobra Lounge, Knocked Loose has proven that their growing popularity has not withheld them from still delivering on the promise of their shows remaining true to what they’ve always been—one hell of a good time.
