Live shows are fun because there’s always something new. This was exactly the case when Arc Iris hit the stage this Sunday opening for Kimbra at Neumos in Seattle. Jocie, the lead singer, stood on a stool wrapped like a cocoon. She spread her arms and revealed herself like a butterfly. The band’s performance was a work of art. There was an intense amount of playful chemistry between the keyboardist, Zach, and Jocie. As they played their final song, Piggies, three people dressed in full pig costumes paraded through the crowd. It was an unexpected ending to a theatrical performance by Arc Iris.
After a short delay due to technological issues, Kimbra took the stage. She was powerful, confident, and free. Kimbra is the embodiment of a true artist; she creates the music on stage, working through kinks while commanding the stage with her presence. Music pulsates through her veins. She effortlessly dances on stage, feeling ever beat. There’s a look in her eyes when a song hits just right. It was refreshing to watch her light up on stage full of passion and love for music.
Kimbra’s last show for this leg of the tour will be February 15th. Don’t worry though – she’ll be back on the road May 12th. Check here to see if she’s making a stop near you.
